What are units?
Units-- the words we attach to numbers.
Examples: 3 feet
10 inches
5 meters
Denominate number -- the number
Units -- the word

The basic units of measure we use for length are
related in the following ways:
12 inches = 1 foot
3 feet = 1 yard
5,280 feet = 1 mile

Yes, you can think this through without a unit
multiplier. “I know there are 12 inches in every
foot, so if I have 5 feet I will have 5 times 12
inches.
