ROBLES* 2 014 - 2 015 AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY • THE PURPOSE OF THE AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY COURSE IS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE SYSTEMATIC STUDY OF PATTERNS AND PROCESSES THAT HAVE SHAPED HUMAN UNDERSTANDING, USE, AND ALTERATION OF EARTH’S SURFACE. STUDENTS LEARN TO EMPLOY SPATIAL CONCEPTS AND LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS TO EXAMINE HUMAN SOCIOECONOMIC ORGANIZATIONS AND ITS ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES. EACH SECTION IS WORTH 50% OF THE FINAL EXAM GRADE. THE MULTIPLE CHOICE SECTION CONTAINS 75 QUESTIONS AND LASTS 1 HOUR. THE FREE RESPONSE SECTION CONTAINS 3 QUESTIONS AND LASTS 1 HOUR AND 15 MINUTES. THESE COMPOSITE, WEIGHTED RAW SCORED ARE CONVERTED INTO THE REPORTED AP EXAM SCORES OF : • 5-EXTREMELTY WELL QUALIFIED • 4-WELL QUALIFIED • 3-QUALIFIED • 2-POSSIBLY QUALIFIED • 1-NO RECOMMENDATION • *A Fee of $90.00 must be paid in order to take the exam on its assigned date. Student may receive a waiver from fee if student maintains a grade of a 90 or higher during the first semester of school. Fee will be reimbursed if student scores a 3, 4, 5. • • • • • • CLASSROOM GRADING SCALE / GUIDELINES 30% - MAJOR TEST 50% - DAILY ASSIGNMENTS 20%- FINAL EXAM LATE WORK: ONLY ONE CLASS PERIOD AFTER THE ASSIGNMENT WAS DUE, FOR A 70%. AFTER THAT LATE WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO REDO A MAJOR TEST AND IT WILL BE CREDIT AVERAGED WITH THE FIRST TEST.
