world. David Bosch Transforming Mission


Is there a mission of the church?
“It’s not the church that has a mission.
It’s the God of mission who has a church.”
Tim Dearbourne
If the church is worried about itself, it cannot
be a church but a club of like-minded people
trying to exist for their own pleasure and
needs.

John 3:15 – “Indeed, God did not send
the Son into the world to condemn the
world, but in order that the world might
be saved through him.”

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son, so that
everyone who believes in him may not
perish but may have eternal life.”

You are a chosen people, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God…1Peter 2: 9
Therefore we must engage in
God’s mission


“You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has
lost its taste, how can its saltiness be
restored? It is no longer good for anything, but
is thrown out and trampled under foot.
“You are the light of the world. A city built on
a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a
lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on
the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the
house. In the same way, let your light shine
before others, so that they may see your
good works and give glory to your Father in
heaven.
› Matthew 5:13 – 16
