The Bill of Rights Project
DIRECTIONS:
Once you have studied and researched a bit about the Bill of Rights, your work and fun is ready to begin.
Within your team of 5 people you are to tell the story of the Bill of Rights. You are responsible for 2
amendments and may choose any of the following 10 methods to present your amendment.

skit: This must include all members of your group and must include all elements of the
amendment. It should last at least 3 minutes, have at least 2 historical references, and
include a prop.

poster: Must include all elements of the amendment, at least 2 historical examples or
information. It should be neat, colorful, and make use of drawing or pictures.

collage: Should include all elements of the amendment through the use of pictures and
must be at least 81/2 by 11 in size.

song: It must tell something about the amendment, its history or controversy, and you
must perform it.

poem: It must tell something about the amendment, its history or controversy, and you
must perform it.

speech: This is a persuasive speech in which you must attempt to convince that your
chosen amendment is the most important of the 10 in the document. You will deliver
the speech to the class.

essay: An original essay in which you detail the reasons why you believe your
amendment is the most essential of all of our rights. You must include basic information
about the amendments, its history, and your argument. It should be at least 350 words.
a time line: Please choose an appropriate amendment for this one (the 3rd would not be
good). Chronicle the life of this amendment through court cases and events which show
its impact. You must have at least 10 items.

video: You may put any of the above (or some combination) on video if you would
rather do that than perform it in class. a movie clip: Show an appropriate clip from a
movie which exemplifies what the amendment is about. It must not last over 5 minutes,
you must set it up and explain how it is relevant to your amendment.
