Goal is engagement of students in
real life/simulated work settings
using scenario based learning. The
basics of this pilot were set up this
fall using team building and team
training at beginning of quarter.
Quarter long project in 102 and 3
week RFP Project in 110. End of
quarter will be a panel of experts in
the field judging projects. All
activities are set up by task/team.
Goal is to provide new visuals for
teaching materials. Revise visuals in
ppt’s. Redo master schedule on time
management to reflect 30 minute
time frame. 4 Chapters are already
completed. Will use Soft Chalk and
help from Jo Munroe and Andy
Duckworth.
The goal is to provide more
organizational help to Chem. 110.
Instructor will provide ppt lecture
notes to accompany lectures. In
place already: public files in the
portal, lecture notes, homework,

feedback template in which a student
reflects on time put into study, what
they studied, and how happy they
were with their results. Use for first 5

Goal is to improve the ease of using
Angel in new hybrid/online course by
making it more uniform in colors and
font representation for categories of
assignments and class attention.
Week Zero will be introduced to get
students used to Angel and electronic
environment. Two more choices will
be added on 2 assignments to build
in more engagement.
Goal is to provide a variable grading
menu for students who have different
assessment styles. Establish 3
assessment paths: Tester’s Path
(quizzes), Writer’s Path (no tests but
more writing , Standard Path –
combination/prescribed. Might
change up due dates so material
could be completed at different
times.
Goal is to provide more choices for
students to increase both
engagement (responsibility) and
expression of what they know.
Students will pick 3 essays out of
Bedford Reader, analyze essays, and
integrate thematic text with their
own experience in Eng 101. In 102,
students will get more input from the
teacher up front as instructor will
meet with all students in small
groups of 3 for 15 minutes at
beginning of quarter to give them
more direction. Might use SI to help
meet with all students.
Goal is to develop consistent
curriculum format for teaching of
verb tenses. Two verb tenses have
been developed and 3 more will be
developed using format of: Whole
class verb tense demo. Multiple
choice practice -chooses the correct
form out of 3 options. Write the

practice offered. Visualize the form
and how to use it. Explain the form
to someone else.
Goal is to enable students to review
audio and video of lectures as an
adjunct to in class lectures. Use
Tegrity program to record and upload
lectures to Angel. Survey at end of
course for feedback. Provide at least
2 options to assess comprehensive
learning. Offer take-home tests and
a “write your own test” option with
associated rubric.
Goal is for students to understand
material in the Big Picture in order to
improve test grades. Will develop a
template for students to use to take
notes on slides and videos. Template
will focus students on big picture
issues of culture. In lecture will do
big picture (images) first and then
details. Will also use color
intentionally to focus students to
develop system for study.
Goal is to get students more invested
and engaged by using Grade A to
post grades. Already e-mails
students after every class with class
notes and class announcements,
including new information (HD 101 –
Today and Yesterday).Color coding of
assignments. May start using doc.
cam for class notes and to get
students involved.
Goal is to reach students who are
more visual through the use of more
videos. Instructor will look for videos
that are 5 – 10 minutes and concept
specific to augment broader lecture.
Will add 1 or 2 videos a week. Some
videos are introductory and some are
deeper content focused. Plan is to
present lecture.(40 minutes). Then
stop. Lab next day. Then start next

section with the video embedded in
the class.
Goal is to provide alternatives to
traditional testing as assessment.
Students choose to take a test or
create a study guide for material. At
least one test and at least one study
guide out of 4 total. Assignment
sheet developed. Create one study
guide for an example. Each student
will personalize their study guides
according to learning needs.
Goal is to augment the verbal
assignments by adding visual and
easily accessible assignment sheets
on Angel. Give quizzes through
Angel and accept assignments
through Angel only. This will prepare
students for hybrid/online course as
part of the Fresh Start sequence.
This should create more student
responsibility and independence.
