Introduction to the Course:

A survey of the basic principles and significance of job evaluation. An analysis of current
practices and techniques used in job analysis, job description, and job evaluation.

Specific Goals to the Course:
a. Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:






Discuss how job design/evaluation is used to gain competitive advantages for business.
Discuss how job design/evaluation ties to the overall strategic objectives of an
organization.
Compare various approaches to job design and work flow analysis.
Identify the knowledge and requirements needed in jobs and match appropriate methods
of employee selection, training and hiring.
Integrate quality concepts such as performance management and employee training with
job design techniques such as job enlargement, rotation and enrichment
List alternative methods of compensation to support changing/expanding job
requirements and situations for workers such as cross-functional workforces, teamwork,
flex hours, job sharing, etc.
