HEALTH KNOWLEDGE GROUP NEW ZEALAND The Essential Medical Terminology Course Medical Terminology is used to communicate facts and ideas relating to health care and medicine. This unique language relates directly to anatomical structures, medical diagnoses & treatment, nursing care and related procedures. This course provides a basic knowledge of the medical language used by health care professionals and is suitable for senior high school students planning to study health science; future students of podiatry, nursing, medicine, radiology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, chiropractice and other health studies; It is useful for post graduate students of medical law; computer language and database designers working in the e-health and hospital systems software area; health funding, OSH and health insurance professional; legal practitioners, police and other professionals dealing with medical cases and reports; It is useful for medical receptionists, hospital, nursing home or health office workers, writers, television & film actors; and for people wanting to understand their own medical condition and test results. COURSE WORKSHOP The intensive 1day 9am-5pm workshop has assessments on all topics and full attendance is required for a certificate to be given. ENGLISH REQUIREMENT: Students enrolling in this course should be able to speak, read, write and understand English at a competent health workplace level. COURSE ASSESSMENTS There are written assessments completed during the workshop through a series of worksheets. The worksheets and a score summary are submitted at the completion of the workshop day.
