Pre-Conference: Advanced 12-Lead ECG Course – May 18
“A Must for All Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Educators”
This Course will be taught by the renowned Jonni Cooper, who was personally trained by, and who co-authored and taught with our late Co-Founder,
Dr. Henry J. L. Marriott for over 25 years on an international scale. Jonni has the uncanny knack of making the most complex topics simple and
understandable; one participant stated that she should be cloned so everyone could have her at their side.
The reason this course is being offered is because a recent survey by the ABCM demonstrated that Cardiac Nurse Practitioners scores in these topic
areas are substandard for the high profile roles that they are functioning in. The purpose of the course is to provide more time to study 12-Lead
diagnoses whether you plan to sit for your CVNP Board Certification or not. You will come away with a wealth of new information and will have the
opportunity to clarify information you need more help with. Do try to attend and sharpen your diagnostic skills in these very important areas of
Cardiology. Dr. Marriott used to say that the ECG is the most often ordered diagnostic test in Cardiology, the least expensive, yet the most often
misunderstood; and he was absolutely right in his observation.
This Course will utilize the I-Clicker technology that allows for immediate audience response and stimulates robust conversation among your
colleagues. Each participant will have their own I-Clicker in hand to respond to the ECGs presented for a response. This technology makes for a
lively day that you will not want to miss. And, do bring along ECGs you would like help with or to share with your colleagues.
The Course will cover the 8 Most Common Cardiac Emergencies Encountered in Clinical Practice and include the following:
1)
Myocardial Infarction and Ischemia (Obvious, Obscure, and Mimics) – 12-Lead Required
2)
Pulmonary Embolus – 12-Lead Required
3)
Pericarditis – 12-Lead Required
4)
Narrow or Wide-QRS Tachycardias – 12-Lead Required
5)
Pre-excitation Tachycardias – 12-lead Required
6)
Electrolyte Disorders – 12-Lead Required
7)
SA Block and Sick Sinus Syndromes – 12-lead Not Required
8)
Advanced AV Block - 12-lead Not Required
