Art of the Middle Age
Reflection of the society
– During the Middle Ages, the society was changed quit a bit from the
decline of the Empire. The middle ages cover about 1,000 years when
the barbarians or the tribes swept across the Rhine into the empire.
– You may think people in the middle ages did things differently, and they did.
People back then would form small "communities" around a lord or master as
they would call It to stay isolated from the other people. As today we know that
we do things a little more different.

Art vs. Literature
– The artwork of the time helps us to better understand the literature written. It
helps by showing a detailed representation of a scene, or moment from the
literature.
– Most artwork from the middle ages, is based from literature also from this time
period.
– For example:
– Giotto Di Bondone, painted this picture to show Jesus's
crucifixion from the story in the bible.
Modern Time
– We may not think that the Middle Ages has anything to do with modern times,
but that is where everything started from. For instance:
– water mills
– technology
– printing press
– heavy plow
– The list goes on, but if it weren't for the Middle Ages, we would not have the
things we have today. Everything from then has advanced and made life a little
easier.
