NOMINATION AGAINST RESERVED QUOTA OF SEATS FOR GILGIT BALTISTAN STUDENTS
The Education Department Gilgit Baltistan started the task of nomination of deserving candidates against reserved seats in
MBBS/BDS & Engineering for Northern Areas soon after the declaration of HSSC result by KIU Gilgit and other boards in the country.
The candidates informed through newspapers, Radio Pakistan Gilgit and Skardu, that they must submit their applications duly
completed in all respects on the prescribed Application Form within 15 days after declaration of HSSC result. Soon after the
advertisement the desirous candidates started submitting their application forms to the Directorate of Education Gilgit. To ensure
timely submission of applications the advertisement re-broadcast on the Radio Pakistan Gilgit & Skardu. On conclusion of Entry Tests
by the Provinces. During October & November of every year application forms for nomination are closed.
Other reserved seats i.e Polytechnic, B.Tech, BBA/B.Com, FA/FSc/BA/BSc & Post Graduate seats are allocated to the students of
Gilgit Baltistan as directed by the concerned institutions/universities on due course of time.
GILGIT BALTISTAN NOMINATION BOARD.
The Gilgit Baltistan Nomination Board has been constituted in Gilgit Baltistan, and has been dealing with the Nomination for the last
many years. This Board has been established under proper approval of the Government. It was reconstituted with the approval of the
competent authority. The Board is fully authorized to approve the nomination of deserving candidates for Engineering & Medical Seats.

ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES FOR MEDICAL SEATS.
a- Candidates who have passed F.Sc (pre medical) or equivalent from any recognized Board of Intermediate and Secondary
Education (65% unadjusted marks for Punjab and 60% unadjusted for NWFP) and posses Gilgit Baltistan Domicile and have passed
prescribed Entry Test from Punjab and NWFP shall be eligible for nomination against reserved quota seats in MBBS/BDS
b- Candidates passing Entry Test from Punjab are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS seats in the Punjab,Sindh, and Baluchistan.
c-
Candidates passing Entry Test from NWFP are eligible to apply for MBBS,/BDS seats in NWFP, Sindh and Baluchistan.
d- Candidates passing Entry Test from NWFP, Sindh and Baluchistan are not eligible for MBBS/BDS seats in Punjab.
e- Candidates who have wasted any reserved seat having been previously nominated will be termed disqualified for one term to
apply for re-nomination in accordance with the nomination policy.
Surety Bond/Undertaking
Surety bond/undertaking worth Rs.5,00,000/- (Five Lac) shall be obtained from the selected candidates against MBBS/BDS reserved
seats for Gilgit Baltistan to the effect that they will serve Northern Areas for 05 years or pay back the expenditure to Government of
Pakistan incurred on their education.

DETERMINATION OF MERIT.
a-
Determination of merit is worked out as per the weightage formulae of respective province/ Institution, a candidate has
passed the Entry Test from.
b-
10 marks are deducted in case of improvement in F.Sc or equivalent.
c-
10 marks for each year are deducted on gap.
d-
20 marks are awarded in case of Hafiz Quran.
METHOD REGARDING ALLOTMENT OF SEATS TO THE CANDIDATES.
a-
Candidates have been asked to indicate their choices of courses as well as Institutions in order of preference in their
Application Forms.
b-
The candidate who stands at top merit is entitled to avail his Ist. choice of course and Institution first.
c-
The candidates next on merit are selected as per their choices in turn.
d50 % Seats are allocated to Districts on quota basis and 50 % seats are thrown open on general merit among all the
candidates of Gilgit Baltistan. But Institutions and discipline are allocated on over all Gilgit Baltistan merit basis.
e-
If a seat falls vacant, the next on merit of the same district will be selected for nomination.
f-
In case of equal merit, higher age may be given preference.
g-
In case of both equal (merit and age,) higher marks in SSC will be given preference.
JLeftover / vacated seats on regional quota are utilized within the districts of the respective region first. In case no candidate
is eligible on the respective merit of the region the leftover seat will be transferred to the next region.

ELIGIBILITY OF CANDIDATES FOR ENGINEERING SEATS.
a.
Candidates who have passed F.Sc (pre- engineering) or equivalent from any recognized Board of Intermediate and Secondary
Education (60% marks in F.Sc. or
equivalent for Punjab, NWFP and Sindh) and possess Gilgit Baltistan domicile and have passed
prescribed Entry Test by any province including AJK are eligible for nomination against reserved quota seats in the engineering
group.
b.
Candidates who have wasted any reserved seat having been previously nominated will be termed disqualified for one term to
apply for re-nomination in accordance with the nomination policy.
c.
Candidates passing Entry Test from any province are eligible to apply for seats all over the country i.e Punjab, NWFP, UET
Mirpure AJ&K and NED Engineering College of Technology Karachi.

50% seats are allocated to Districts on quota basis and 50% are thrown open on general merit among all the candidates of
Gilgit Baltistan. But Institutions and courses are allocated on over all Gilgit Baltistan open merit basis.
e.
In case of equal merit, higher age is to be given preference.
f.
In case of both equal (merit and age,) higher marks in SSC will be given preference.
g.
Best result in case of willingly submission of more than one entry test mark sheet will be accounted for the determination
of merit and allotment of institution if candidates are otherwise eligible.
h.
Leftover/vacated seats on regional quota are utilized within the districts of the respective region first. In case no candidate
is eligible on the respective merit of the region the leftover seat will be transferred to the next region. The districts included in 03
regions are given below.
