German II Course Syllabus Frau Matz--Room A108 Voice mail: 763-506-8463 Email: Sarah.Matz@anoka.k12.mn.us Willkommen in der Deutschklasse! This class uses a communicative approach to help students continue their journey to proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking the German language. Each lesson gives students the opportunity to practice these communicative skills alone, in pairs or groups, and/or with the class as a whole. We will learn together through the use of directed dialogues, songs, videos, creative projects, cultural readings, and book activities. Be prepared for class with all necessary materials. Respect students and teacher. No cell phones out or on in class. No food or drink during class time (plain water is OK). Late work: In a high school classroom there should be little or no late work. On the rare occasion that you forget to do an assignment, I will accept late work for partial credit (better than no credit!). Please do not make a habit of it. (over) Absent Work: It is your responsibility to find out the work that you missed. You are allowed two days for each day absent to complete the work with no penalty. Students will receive partial credit on absent work unless it is completed within the allotted time frame. Remember—it is your responsibility to get your work in. Tardy policy: Please consult the student handbook for the school policy on tardiness. If you are tardy to class, please sign your name on the board. You then need to follow the directions there. On the third tardy, detention will be assigned. On the fifth tardy, a referral will be sent to the office. Plagiarism/Cheating: Plagiarism is a serious offense and has consequences. It involves copying words or ideas without giving credit to the source. Cheating involves copying another student’s work, using notes/books during a test, or using a cell phone to access answers during a test. Please consult your handbook for the consequences of plagiarism/cheating.
