Reaction time 9/3-4: Notebook setup, sleep and body rhythms Mrs. Scott & Mr. Palmitier, 6th Grade Social Studies Mr. Hayner, 6th Grade Reading This week in sixth grade reading, students will be introduced to their respective teachers and classmates as well as rules and procedures for their respective classrooms. The students will also summarize the required summer reading text in an hour, then give individual presentations of their summaries. Finally, for their first outside of class project, the students will create an obituary of any character they choose from any novel they choose from the Mrs. Jaggi, 6th Grade summer reading list.Mathematics Monday and Tuesday: Teach 2.1 (Classifying Rational Numbers) HW: Practice problems 2.1D Wednesday, Thursday and Friday teach 2.3 (Ordering and Comparing Rational Numbers) HW: Practice problems 2.3 A/B & 2.3 D. Monday and Tuesday (8/24 & 8/25) Introduction to classroom rules, policies and procedures. “Getting to Know You” and “What Do I Know” activities are also included as introductions to the class environment and content. Homework: Purchase a composition notebook Wednesday and Thursday (8/26 & 8/27) “Think Like a Geographer”- Students will review key elements of a map, types of maps and begin mastery of coordinates. Students will define culture and identify key aspects of culture. Homework: Interview a relative about your ancestry. Think about a favorite family tradition. Friday (8/28) Students will continue to think like a geographer by comparing and contrasting absolute and relative location and utilize coordinates to find key points on a map. Assignment: “Latitude and Longitude” (worksheet) Ms. Bonno, 6th Grade Mathematics Lab The students will be learning and practicing classroom and computer procedures. Using IXL program students will be enriching and extending their math skills with rational numbers.
