Whereas:
Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions
of students; and
Whereas:
Student Senate is a means by which students concerns are addressed; and
Whereas:
Night of the Organ is entering its 20th year as Baylor’s annual Halloween Organ
Concert; and
Whereas:
The School of Music is promoting school traditions and providing a safe place for
people to bring their children on Halloween; and
Whereas:
Attendance spiked from 500 to 800 last year with the help of student government
and a new marketing plan; and
Whereas:
The event is performed by Baylor Organ Students, where the costumed
performers will play “ghostly” organ music and where audience members are
invited to attend in costume; and
Whereas:
For this year’s concert, The School of Music expects an approximate attendance
of 500 individuals—including Baylor students and the outside community; and
Whereas:
The Halloween Organ Recital is free and open to the public, and is typically
followed by a dessert reception; and
Whereas:
The event will be held in the Waco Hall on October 28th; and
Whereas:
“Night of the Organ” will advertise this event through the use of posters,
chalking, computer slides, college campus visits, the Lariat, the Waco Tribune
and utilization of the University Missions church database; and
Whereas:
The budget for hosting the 2010 Night of the Organ is as follows:

Therefore:
Be it resolved by the 58th Legislative Session of the Baylor University Student
Senate assembled that $677.00 be allocated from the Student Government
Allocation Fund (SGAF) to Mike Riess for the purpose of funding the event
supplies, and part of the advertisement.
Furthermore:
Any unused money from the SGAF will be returned to the SGAF in an expedient
manner.
Furthermore: The SGAF will be given due recognition at the event per SGAF Branding
Requirements.
Furthermore: Mike Riess will meet with the Attorney General within seven business days after
the event.
