Objectives: The student will be able to: 1. describe and locate the: a. skeletal muscles on the living human b. origins, insertions, actions and innervation of these muscles c. structures and articulations of the skeleton. 2. Describe the physiological basis of muscular activity. 3. Procedures: Explain the roles of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems in muscular activity. Lectures, discussion of assigned reading. Students are expected to be prepared to actively participate in class discussions. Lab work includes studies of bones and skeletons, virtual dissection, analysis of muscle activity on living subjects. Grading: Lecture exams (essay questions). 40% Lab practicals 40% Lab write-ups 20% (The above % distributions are approximate but they generally reflect the weight of each of the components of the grade.) Attendance: The student is responsible for all material presented or assigned in lecture and lab. Laboratory: Students must attend all laboratory sessions. Students who miss more than one (1) lab session will be dropped from the course. The absence may be made-up by attending a different section were the same exercise is being done if there is room in that section. If you use this option, you should get a written confirmation from the instructor that you made-up the exercise. Students that miss an examination must contact me with in 24 hours. You must take the exam by the end of that week.
