The information below explains the topics for the 3 major assessments found within your e2020 course framework. Keep in mind that there are 5 main components to this course: the two listed below, the successful completion of all other e2020 work, and your book project.

The responses to each of the three assignments below must reflect thorough, quality, introspective thinking presented in polished, high school level writing. In-class workshops will be given for each of these assignments.

Journal Question: Two important skills necessary for effective public speaking are knowing your audience and overcoming the fear of public speaking. Referencing BOTH online content sites, write a journal entry that outlines five specific tips that you learned while reading the online content. In addition, please respond to the following questions: Do you think good public speaking skills are necessary in today's society? Will you need good public speaking skills in the future?

Journal Response: Student should respond to both websites. Responses should contain complete sentences and should address five specific tips from each website. Suggested responses may include but not be limited to: 1)

Five tips to overcome your fear of public speaking are a) being well-prepared b) practicing, c) having a backup, d) reducing your fear of the audience, e) relaxing. 2) Students may elaborate or be more specific in any of these areas. 3) Five tips towards knowing your audience are a) researching your audience before you speak, b) test the audience at the beginning of the speech, c) be prepared to modify your speech, d) make sure to not bore your audience, e) be prepared to cut your speech short. 4) Students should state that they either agree or disagree with the importance of public speaking in today’s society and/or for their future and offer a brief reason as to why they agree or disagree. 5) Students should state their opinion on this question. They should also include specific reasons and/or examples for their opinion.
