The Sun is a star.
The four inner planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
Mercury is very hot and dry, because it is the closest planet to the Sun.
Venus is the second planet from the Sun and the hottest. It is the hottest,
because of its thick atmosphere that traps the Sun’s heat.
5. Earth is the only planet that can sustain life, because it has liquid water,
atmosphere, and mild temperatures.
6. Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and has a reddish-orange rocky
surface. Mars also has two moons.
7. The five outer planets are: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
8. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are gas giants and their surface is not
solid. These planets have rings.
9. Pluto has a surface similar to the inner planets, because it is rocky. Pluto is
the only outer planet that is not made of gas and does not have rings.
10.The Sun looks very big and bright compared to the other stars. That’s
because it is closer to Earth.
11. The path an object or planet takes as it revolves around the Sun is its orbit.
12. The Great Red Spot on Jupiter is a huge never ending storm.
