RESEARCH CHECKLIST
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Feel free to include other information if necessary.
Your paper should have an INTRODUCTION which includes:

The capital of the country
The major language(s) spoken
The location (what continent it's on)
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing the HISTORY of your country which
includes:

The Date the country came into existence.
Famous people/rulers/kings/presidents/etc. from the country's history.
Major events in the country's history.
How the country became a country.
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing the GEOGRAPHY of your country. It
should include:

Major landforms.
Major landmarks.
Major bodies of water.
Major cities.
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing the CULTURE of your country. It
should include:
o Clothing
o Holidays
o Food
Music
Religions
Government
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing the ECONOMY of your country. It
should include:
o Natural Resources – Identify the export and import GDP of the country. Express the GDP
in ratios. Compare the GDP of your country to the GDP of the United States.
o Manufacturing areas
o Land use (ie. farming areas)
o Major occupations (jobs)
o The currency (type of money) – Compare the currency rate for three weeks. You will
check the rates on Tuesday 9/22, 9/29, and 10/6.
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing the CLIMATE of your country. It
should include:
o General weather conditions
o Average yearly rainfall
o Average yearly temperature – What are the conversion equations for changing Fahrenheit
to Celsius and Celsius to Fahrenheit. Convert the temperature for 3 weeks. You will
check temperatures on Tuesday 9/22, 9/29, and 10/6.
o What effects the climate has on the country culture, economy, and population.
Your paper should have at least one paragraph discussing any INTERESTING FACTS about
your country. It should include:

Population in scientific notations/Standard form
Modes of transportation
Story behind the flag
Strange laws
Travel tips
Native animals
Your Conclusion will include your response:
Is there a relationship between the culture (peaceful or otherwise) in the economy and crime
rate?
You should use an encyclopedia, the internet, books, etc. for your research.
 The second part of your project will be your oral presentation that should be
at least 3-5 minutes in length.
Country Research Project

THE TASK
Your job is to research a country from North America (you may not choose the United States),
Latin America, or Europe.
You will be exploring many different aspects of your country, including, the HISTORY, the
GEOGRAPHY, the CULTURE, the ECONOMY, the CLIMATE, and other INTERESTING
FACTS.
After researching your country you will create: PowerPoint, Research Report, Poster, or Video.
