Updated 2/2014 POSITION: CERTIFIED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT Immediate Supervisor: Occupational Therapist (OT) The OT will be responsible for monitoring work performance and completing the performance evaluation. Administrative Supervisor: Part B Special Education Coordinator/Part C Special Education Coordinator The Part B Special Education Coordinator/ Part C Special Education Coordinator will be responsible for administrative actions such as, but not limited to, the following tasks: disciplinary actions, leave requests, approving job performance evaluations, approving case loads, and support for problem solving. General Responsibility: Responsible for screening, implementation and delivery of therapy services for eligible children birth through five years of age. Minimum Educational/Certification Qualifications: A.S. degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Current License issued by the State of Wyoming Board of Occupational Therapy. Experience: Knowledge of pediatric therapy and one year’s experience working with children birth to six years of age is preferred. Essential Functions: 1. Must be able to interact in a positive and effective manner with a wide variety of people including children, parents, families, staff members, and community members in order to promote positive relationships within the work setting and community. 2. Must be able to meet time lines for required program documentation such as (but not limited to) case note documentation, child outcome summary forms, assessment reports as well as any required reports related to the job, child goals, objectives, etc. and manage multiple priorities associated with the requirements of the job while maintaining an effective and efficient work schedule. 3. Must have the ability to gain knowledge and adhere to the Rules and Regulations Governing Services to Children with Disabilities according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). 4. Must be reliable, organized and detail oriented in order to maintain an effective and efficient schedule. 5. Must possess extensive computer experience and ability. 6. Must have knowledge of formal assessment tools and be able to administer formal/informal assessments. 7. Must be able to attend IEP/IFSP meetings and assist in appropriate plan development. 8. Must be able to collaborate with designated staff members to formulate appropriate goals/objectives based on individual needs. 9. Must be able to gather and analyze intervention data regularly and modify therapy plan as needed. Essential Functions (cont’d): 10. Must be able to administer therapy through appropriate sequencing of objectives. 11. Provide transition information for children as needed. 12. Provide individual and group therapy while maintaining the least restrictive environment according to a child’s IEP/IFSP. 13. Must be able to provide required documentation for the curriculum assessment system within the designated time frame. 14. Make referrals to related service agencies/professionals when needed. 15. Address issues in the home which may affect the child’s development such as oral feeding skills and activities of daily living (dress, bathing, etc.). 16. Select appropriate treatment, interventions and activities to promote attainment of goals and objectives dependent upon the needs of each child. 17. Must promote and ensure the safety of all enrolled children and families participating in the Child Development Center programs. 18. Must represent the Child Development Center in a professional and ethical manner. 19. Must respect the cultural diversity and dignity of others and treat them with fairness and courtesy. 20. Must follow all policies and procedures of the Child Development Center. 21. Must be willing to become educated on new practices within the field of Occupational Therapy. 22. Must attend staff meetings, team meetings, trainings, and other required meetings on time and as scheduled. 23. Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned. Physical/Environmental Requirements: 1. Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, etc. 2. Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted. 3. Must be able to tolerate air conditioned buildings and fluorescent lights. 4. Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment. 5. Must be able to hear and process ordinary conversation, telephone conversation, and quiet sounds with or without aid. 6. Must be able and willing to drive to meet job requirements. 7.
