FAMILY DEVELOPMENT CENTER/ DOUGLAS COUNTY RELIEF NURSERY Clinical Supervisor/ Child and Family Therapist JOB DESCRIPTION PURPOSE: The Clinical Supervisor/ Child and Family Therapist is responsible for delivering comprehensive mental health services to children and families enrolled in the FDC Therapeutic Early Childhood Center-Based Program. The Clinical Supervisor/ Child and Family Therapist will conduct play therapy, adult and family therapy, administer mental health assessments, appropriate documentation and reporting. The Clinical Supervisor/ Child and Family Therapist will also provide support, training, and classroom observations for the teaching teams. The Clinical Supervisor/ Child and Family Therapist will develop a mental health caseload under the direct guidance of the Program Manager. This position is also responsible for providing leadership, community networking and outreach, coaching and support to the staff and families, and some fundraising. This person serves on the management team and as an advisor to the Program Manager and Executive Director. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. BA or MA from an accredited college or university in Business, Social Services, Psychology/ Mental Health or Early Childhood related field. 2. Minimum of two years experience in program development working with early childhood, adults and families, diverse populations, poverty and social services or related field. 3. Minimum of two years experience in mental health delivery, home visiting and working with high risk families providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 4. A current clearance from the Central Background Registry. 5. Current First Aid and CPR card, Food Handler’s Card, Annual Mandatory Reporting/Child Abuse and Neglect training. 6. A valid Oregon driver’s license (or acceptable driver’s license from another state). 7. Proof of a three year DMV driving record free of major infractions. 8. Proof of current personal automobile insurance. 9. Bilingual skills and/or being bicultural may benefit this position’s duties. CORE COMPETENCIES: 1. Education and Therapeutic Responsibilities: a. Gain knowledge and understanding about Relief Nursery Therapeutic Principles. b. Receive training and hands on experience in all aspects of the Relief Nursery Model (classroom observations, bus riding, parent education, intake and assessment, and crisis support etc). 3. Mental Health Responsibilities: a. Develop and maintain an individual therapy caseload following the therapeutic principles of the Relief Nursery. As per discussion with Program Manager or Executive Director. b. Maintain positive and therapeutic relationship with mental health clients. Keep up to date and accurate paperwork on all therapy sessions, treatment plans etc. c. Observe children in the classroom according to the pattern outlined by the Program Manager. Provide written and/or verbal observations, feedback, and support pertaining to family/classroom dynamics and behaviors. d. Support teachers in providing resources, referrals, and information to families as appropriate. e. Learn and provide parent education curriculum to parent groups, as needed. August 2014 CS 4. Training Responsibilities: a. As part of the Management Team plan, implement and coordinate intensive parent training, as needed. b. Receive training in assigned curricula through agency. c. Develop, implement and coordinate Mental Health Trainings. d. Train and support teachers to develop goals for individual child and family service plans (when appropriate) in order to promote and encourage family growth and development. e. Develop and implement community trainings – in the future, as assigned. f. Assist in facilitating trainings and staff meetings as determined by Program Manager. g. Attend workshops and conferences for professional development to keep updated on new developments in the field. h. Work with classroom volunteers when needed to provide training. 5. Public Relations: a. Ensure coordination with community partners and referring agencies. b. Attend appropriate community partnership meetings. c. Attend or facilitate community trainings. d. Collaborate with Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Program to provide services for FDC’s high risk children and families. 6. Additional Responsibilities: a. Support educational staff in making reports of any suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to Child Welfare and completing necessary documentation. If witnessing suspected child abuse and neglect, staff the report with Program Manager, make the report to Child Welfare and complete the necessary documentation. b. Participate in staff, client and volunteer meetings and other special events as determined by Program Manager. c. Volunteer for local fundraising events, children’s fairs and other events (at least 4 hours/year). d. Attend and participate in management team meetings. e.
