Two classes of antihypertensive treatment as defined by: α adrenergic blockers (C02A, C02B,
C02C), non-loop diuretics (C02DA, C02L, C03A, C03B, C03D, C03E, C03X, C07C, C07D, C08G,
C09BA, C09DA, C09XA52), vasodilators (C02DB, C02DD, C02DG, C04, C05), β blockers (C07),
calcium channel blockers (C07F, C08, C09BB, C09DB), and renin-angiotensin system inhibitors
(C09).
Selected pharmacotherapy of importance is defined by records of claimed prescriptions 180 days
prior to admission for any of the following drugs: beta-blockers (C07), angiotensin converting
enzyme inhibitors (C09), loop diuretics (C03C), spironolactone (C03D), thiazides (C03A), calcium
channel blockers (C08), digoxin (C01A), class I antiarrhythmic drugs (C01BC), class III
antiarrhythmic drugs (C01BD and (C07AA) class IV antiarrhythmic drugs (C08DA), morphine
(N02AA), glucose lowering medication (A10), clopidogrel (B01AC04), (B01AA0), vitamin K
antagonists (B01AA0, antipsychotic agents (N05A) and bronchodilators (R04).
