Touch Rules

Overall iPad Rules and Considerations

• No wifi access. Limits certain applications such as Dragon

Dictation

• iPads aligned with one iTunes account only. Cannot be synced with other computers. ITunes policy for used sees one user per account. We have adapted to see teachers as ultimate users, but copyright does not allow multiple devices synced to single account, especially for augmentative communication apps

• Parental contract for home use- includes care, damage and sync

• Database and coding to keep track of devices in district

• Teacher training critical to success

• Summer care and storage

• Students with personal devices- contractual use

Type of Goals from iAcademy

Increase ability to identify incorrect sentence grammar, correct the sentence and then express the sentence in a semi-generative way in response to WH questions (Sentence

Builder Apps)

Use behavior management apps to increase on task behavior (iReward and iEarned That)

• Utilized the being Human application when feeling frustration or upset.

Use of organizational and behavior management app in general education to make student accountable for work and wean off adult intervention from EA

• Use of the itouch to follow AM routine to complete tasks independently and within time allotment

Increase social interaction success by using Stories2Learn as a social story and

PreTeaching technique

• Use of camera and video modeling for recess reflection

My goal was an individual student goal. I explored the use of such applications as myHomework and Visules in order to improve my student's organizational skills, homework completion, and independence in the general education environment.

My goal for the year was for a student to utilize the iPad to complete weekly spelling test by typing the given word. This student is unable to write.

• To utilize “Notability” and “SoundLiteracy” apps on the iPad to increase motivation and work stamina during MRI instruction

Results from Survey

• Quia Survey to member of the iAcademy to determine success of program

• Teacher’s Responses;

– Students highly enjoyed the work with the devices

– 100% of teachers wanted to continue in work with the iAcademy

– Teachers used touch technology more than 3 times daily, with 57% of the teachers using it over 5 times daily in their classroom

– Teachers used devices for, (in order of use)

1. Motivation

2. Reinforcement and practice of skill

3. Small group work
