“Industry & Integrity” Dorothy Stringer School Year 11 Subject content guidance for parents SPRING TERM 2013 1 Dear Parent/Guardian This booklet gives you information about what is taught term by term and year by year in the various subjects. I hope you find it useful. There is always a balance to be struck between giving too much detail and not enough, and I hope we have got it about right. This information is also on our website: www.dorothy-stringer.co.uk The booklet is designed with you in mind; we need to ensure it meets all your requirements. Since it requires a large amount of paper to produce for every pupil in the school, we would like to only produce an electronic version in the future. If you would still like to receive a paper copy, please complete the reply slip below and return it to me at school. We will then gauge opinion from there. However, geography teachers also record all homework set on the SLG. We estimate that during the in-class revision period (which starts in March) pupil should be doing approximately 2-3 hours of geography revision each week in their own time. We will be setting revision homework before each lesson: revision sessions are much more beneficial if pupils have done some revision in preparation for the lesson. However, we encourage pupils to start their revision much earlier than that: we hope that pupils will be doing at least one hour a week revision after the Christmas holiday (in addition to their homework). We will email details of our revision programme closer to the time. 12 Health and Social Care Double Award Topics covered Students will be finishing their controlled assessment project on Health and well-being.
