Math 82 Lesson Plans
Week of 10/18-10/22/10
I can solve a variety of math equations using numbers, decimals and variables as needed.
Students are expected to bring a pencil(s) to class each day. Text, workbooks and a spiral
notebook are stored in the classroom, all though they may take these home as needed.
Monday:
Bell Work: Respect handout
Instructional Input: Following respect handout students will be given a supplemental
packet on decimals. Discuss on the board at least 1 problem per page and complete as a whole
group. Students will then have remainder of class period to complete assignment. If they finish
early they should work on any work from previous week they have not yet completed.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect work and check for completion and understanding
Tuesday:
Bell Work: Short packet on decimals
Instructional Input: Students will complete a short decimal activity before proceeding
as a whole group into Transmath Unit 3 Lesson 1. Go through examples on the board and
complete workbook pages as a whole group. Homework will be completed on their own for
Lesson 1 and turned in for a grade. Workbook pages should remain in their books until end of
the week.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect homework and check for completion and
understanding.
Wednesday:
Bell Work: Decimal packet
Instructional Input: Students will work as a whole group to complete the exercise in
Lesson 2 of Transmath Unit 3. Workbook and additional examples will be completed step by
step as a whole group. Students will then complete homework for Lesson 2 on their own.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect homework and check for completion
Thursday
Bell Work: Decimal packet
Instructional Input: Students will work as a whole group to complete the exercise in
Lesson 3 of Transmath Unit 3. Workbook and additional examples will be completed step by
step as a whole group. Students will then complete homework for Lesson 3 on their own.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect homework and check for completion
Friday
Bell Work: Decimal packet
Instructional Input: Following decimal work students will work as a whole group on
PODs for this week for 8th grade. If PAT time has been earned students will be allowed to work
on any missing or incomplete assignments. Then they may participate in PAT time. This week
we will use the computers for online math games. Students are ONLY to be on approved sites or
they will loose this PAT time

I can increase my reading fluency as well as my understanding and comprehension of text.
Students are expected to bring a writing utensil to class each day. Text and journals are
stored in the classroom but may be taken home as needed.
Monday:
Bell Work: Main idea worksheet “Before you read – Main ideas”
Instructional Input: Once students have completed before you read we will go over the
reading on main ideas together. Students will complete the “After you read worksheet.” We
will then discuss the vocab terms from the previous week as well as what has been taking place
in our novel, Bud Not Buddy. Students will complete a short open book quiz on the novel as well
as a journal quick write. We will then read as a whole group from the story discussing as we
read.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect written work and check for understanding. Students will
also receive a + or – for appropriate participation.
Tuesday:
Bell Work: Quiz Bud not Buddy
Instructional Input: Following quiz students should complete the “Before you read
Graphic Organizers and Main ideas sheet” Once students have completed these 2 tasks we will
discuss graphic organizers as a whole group including after you read sections. We will then read
and discuss from Bud, Not Buddy and complete worksheet for chapters 11 and 12.
Present poem, “Where I’m from” as a work in progress. Students will be allowed to
offered feedback on this poem. They will then spend 10 minutes working on their own poem in
their journals. Advise that no one will see these except for themselves and staff until they
choose to share. Feedback will be offered and students should use feedback to make changes
to their assignment.

Wednesday:
Bell Work: Critical thinking skills “Before you read “
Instructional Input: Students should complete worksheet, then read passage and discuss
as a whole group. Students will then complete the post reading worksheet. Quick write journal
entry on Bud topic. Discuss Bud readings from the previous day, complete pre-reading packet,
read chapters and then complete follow up packet for readings. Students will be given time in
class to work on their Where I’m from poems.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect and check work for understanding and completion
Thursday
Bell Work: Quiz Bud not Buddy
Instructional Input: Following quiz, students will complete packet on Reading
Comprehension. Vocab for Bud not Buddy and then discuss vocab. Discuss where we are in the
book and what has taken place then read next 2 chapters. Journal entry on Bud topic.
Complete packet for this section of Bud. If any additional time is available students should work
on an appropriate writing topic of their choice as a 10-minute quick write.
Assessment/Evaluation: Collect and check for completion and understanding.
Friday
Bell Work: Quick write a journal entry topic of staff choice
Instructional Input: Students will complete Bud packet for the current section, read and
discuss what is taking place in their novel. Students will have PAT time based on minutes
earned. Discuss different forms of media for getting factual information. Create a list on chart
paper. This week we will play “You’ve been sentenced” during this time.
Assessment/Evaluation: Students will be appropriate in their interactions and
participate when asked.
