News Language Arts & Social Studies News February 27, 2015 CALENDAR Friday, March 6, 2015-Parent Teacher Conferences Monday, March 9, 2015-Field Trip to Dayton Air Museum Reading/ELA (English Language Arts) Students will finish reading Bud, Not Buddy this week. Skills will be close reading informational texts, cause and effect, and theme. Students will read three articles on the Great Depression. Students will have an open book quiz on Monday over Chapters 1-10. Spelling List for this week will be Unit 4 Week 5 Negative Prefixes and the test will be on Thursday. The grammar skill is possessive pronouns and the quiz will be on Wednesday. Social Studies We are moving on to Chapter 8 which is about the events leading to the Revolutionary War. Students will read the chapter this week and they have received a study guide that they will complete as we read. They should study this before the test on Friday, March 13th. Students will also begin a project on cultural influences in the United States. The students will be learning about how England, France, Spain, and The Netherlands have influenced United States culture.
