PUNIC WARS
• Series of three wars between Carthage and Rome
for control of Western Mediterranean
• 1st- Rome won and took control of the
Mediterranean
• 2nd- Carthage attacked a Roman ally, despite
having a larger army and vast elephants Carthage
once again lost to Rome
THIRD PUNIC WAR
• Rome invaded Carthage and destroyed it once
and for all!
LIFE IN ROME
• Carthage was finally conquered and allowed
Rome to conquer the Mediterranean and become
a world power.
• Taxes increase, therefore many people move to the
city
