Department Description: Career Development provides information, opportunity, and support to
increase clarity, confidence and connections for careers and callings. Our vision is that every
graduate graduates with a next step on their career journey and that they have experience coupled
to their academics.
Position Description
Job responsibilities:
1.
Coaching students on job search processes.
2.
Coaching students on résumé and cover letter construction.
3.
Coaching students on on-line/social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.).
4.
Coaching students on preparation for career events (networking, job fairs).
5.
Coaching students on preparing for interviews.
6.
Conducting mock interviews and providing feedback.
7.
Making large and small group presentations on career development topics.
8.
Providing individual in person and email coaching/support of students.
9.
Providing career event management (logistics, promotions, hosting).
10.
Experiencing daily operations of career development services.
11.
Gaining knowledge and experience researching career development trends/issues and
with assessment and reporting
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a graduate level program related to Career Development and possess:
 Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
 Must possess counseling or advising skills.
 Ability to represent office in a professional manner to a wide variety of audiences.
 Demonstrated initiative and flexibility with good time management skills.
 Able to work independently and on group projects.
 Able to effectively utilize resources and be creative.
 Good public speaking skills.
 Ability to effectively use technology including: webpages, websearches, social media, and
others.
Start Date: August 2016
Length of Appointments: prefer academic year
