Ch. 22 The French Revolution
National Assembly
The 3rd Estate declares themselves the
National Assembly and are locked out
of the Estates General. They take the
Tennis Court Oath and are determined to
write a Constitution. Louis XVI tells the
other 2 estates to join the 3rd. They
ended up writing the Declaration of the
Rights of Man which ends privileges of
nobles, guaranteed basic human rights
for all citizens, and established a
constitutional monarchy.

Because there was a lot of work to do
during the harvest time, other
professions, such as miners, helped the
farmers with the harvest. In the winter
however, when there was no farming to
do, the farmers worked in the mines
and workshops. This relationship
provided a steadier income for the
workers than either profession alone.

cultures on others
