Specific due dates will be given for all assignments. Late homework will be penalized. Classwork: Any in class work may be collected and graded. Skills Checks: Mini quizzes will be given at times to assess students’ understanding before an exam. These mini quizzes mainly consist of important problems from class examples and homework and they should take no longer than 15 minutes each. Exams (80%) Students should expect one to two exams per unit. Exam dates will be announced ahead of time. Students should prepare themselves well and take the exams seriously as they have significant weight. Exam Retake Policy All students will be given a one-time opportunity to retake any of their exams if they are not satisfied with their initial exam grade. If you choose to retake an exam, then you can earn at most half of the points that were initially lost. Exam retake sessions will be held afterschool for one week after the exam is given back. Students are responsible for scheduling an exam retake during one of the available sessions in a timely manner. Absenteeism If you were absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. All extra handouts will be stored in a designated location in the classroom; it is your responsibility to collect missed handouts or notes when you return to school. Missed homework and assessments need to be made up in a timely manner. Tardiness You must sign in if you are tardy. My tardy policy coincides with school’s tardy policy and consequences. Bathroom You may go to bathroom during class practice only, NEVER during instruction. The general rule is one person at a time and once a week. Academic Integrity Policy Any form of cheating will result a grade of “0” for the assignment or exam. Examples of cheating include: Providing any previously-scored assessments and/or assignments to another student without specific teacher approval. Representing as your own work, in whole or part, work completed by other student(s). Changing a teacher’s grade on an assignment/test/quiz/project and claiming that the teacher made an error. Using electronic devices to cheat by prerecording unauthorized formulas, answers or processes. Communicating unauthorized information during a test/assessment to another student by electronic, written, or other means. Using unauthorized “cheat sheets” during a test/quiz/assessment. Falsifying data for assignment/project/class activity and representing false data as accurate and true. Plagiarism Extra Help and Office Hours Please do not hesitate to ask for help if you ever experience difficulty with the materials covered in class. I will post my weekly availability on every Monday. Besides special occasions, I should be available afterschool at least two or three days a week. Please schedule an appointment with me ahead of time and come prepared with specific questions. You may not go to your locker once class starts No talking until everyone has finished a quiz or test During a lesson, you must raise your hand to ask or answer a question unless I call on you or the class If you need to leave the classroom, you must sign out with a pass and sign back in Respect our learning environment by keeping it clean Respect me and your classmates with language and behavior appropriate for our academic setting
