The grant will focus on Health Science majors and their pathway to a professional career in the medical field. The counselor assigned to the grant will work with and advise high school students in the Clovis Unified School District (CUSD) as well as current CCCC students who are on the pathway to a Health Sciences degree. The focus is on ensuring students have a clearly defined articulated pathway that will result in appropriate preparation for further study in the health sciences field. In addition, some Pharmacy students are guaranteed admission to the recently opened California Health Science University in Clovis, CA. LLPB GRANT IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS Helps focus CUSD students that are planning their pathway to a field in Health Sciences on researching their particular field of interest. Explains pathways to degrees in health sciences to help students better understand their path to travel. Educates students on the importance of high school coursework to be completed prior to college attendance. Links students to information on prerequisites at the college level. Provides pre-advising to CUSD high school students by CCCC counselor. Helps future CCCC students prepare Student Educational Plan (SEP) prior to enrollment at RTG. CALIFORNIA HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITY (CHSU): PHARMACY SCHOOL GUARANTEED ADMISSION TAG CCCC in agreement with CHSU provides a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program that will give 20 CCCC students per year who are interested in achieving a degree in Pharmacy guaranteed admission at CHSU when the proper requirements are fulfilled. Students interested in this guarantee must have the following requirements in place for the guarantee to be valid once they apply to CHSU: Attendance at CCCC for lower division GE coursework /prerequisite coursework Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university Letter grade of C or higher for all prerequisite coursework Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
