NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 1, 2015 Merritt Named Market Vice President, Roanoke Operations for Cox Virginia Roanoke, Va. – Cox Communications announced that it has named Jeff Merritt as market vice president for Roanoke Operations for Cox Virginia. In his new role, Merritt is responsible for Cox's day-to-day operations in the Roanoke Valley, leading 150 employees. Merritt joined Cox in 2000 as manager of telemarketing and customer care and subsequently served as sales director, first in Hampton Roads and then statewide. In 2012, Merritt was selected to serve as vice president of field sales for Virginia. In this role, his outstanding leadership enabled his teams to achieve top sales results and contributed to significant improvements in revenue growth each year. Most recently, Merritt has lead the Business Excellence project management team in addition to several other internal roles applying his analytical, process and collaborative leadership strengths to support the business. “Cox is proud to have served the Roanoke Valley for nearly 40 years and is committed to continuing to provide strong leadership and support for the community,” said J.D. Harris Publishing Company, Norfolk, Va., and Telelink Systems Inc., Telecommunications Inc., and Telecable Corporation, in Chesapeake, Va. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1996 with a major in psychology and minor in chemistry. He has served on the boards for Virginia Beach Friends School and the Tidewater Council of the Boys Scouts of America. Merritt and his wife, Wendy, have two children and will relocate to the Roanoke Valley. He will be based out of the Cox Roanoke office.
