Standards Education Track was held as part of the Indicon 2012 conference in Kochi in Dec 2012 – students papers from the IEEE Standards Education Committee grants were presented. Standards Publications In 2012, IEEE-SA published its highest amount of pages - ever, just under 20,000. – A primary driver of these numbers (volume and speed) is the increasing amount of 802 documents published (22 total) and the expedited work associated with them and Smart Grid (SG) documents. Average time to publication continued to decrease to 8 weeks. Pre-University Education EPICS (Engineering Projects In Community Service) – Currently 40 projects, operating in 14 Countries: Argentina, Belgium, India, Kenya, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, United States, Uruguay, Zambia, Zimbabwe More than 100 volunteers involved, working with: 266 University Students and 471 pre-university students Impacts 90,000 people in communities around the world TISP (Teacher In-Service Program) – 4 TISP training workshops slated for 2013 Reach an estimated 250-300 IEEE volunteers Goal is to reach 600 teachers representing 64,000 students IEEE Spectrum Redesigns To Better Work In Print and Electronic Form The new “S” Logo is inspired by the radio spectrum charts The “S” Logo is designed to work in multiple formats – from the magazine to smartphones New Web site uses HTML5 so that it works on a variety of devices – story modules reconfigure to fit your screen IEEE Computer Society offers professional training programs in emerging areas IEEE Computer Society now offers TechLeader courses in all new areas: Cloud Compting, Embedded Systems, Multicore and/or Parallel Processing, and New topical areas such as Ethical Hacking.
