Standards Education
John Wiley & Sons has accepted IEEE Standards Education
Committee-developed proposal to write and publish a book of
case studies on modern standardization under the IEEE PressWiley imprint.
– requested by university professors around the world
The IEEE Standards Education Committee released the fifth
issue of IEEE Standards Education e-Magazine on 30 January
2013 http://standardsmagazine.ieee-elearning.org
Standards Education Workshop at ICCVE conference (Beijing)
in partnership with CNIS in December.
Standards Education Track was held as part of the Indicon
2012 conference in Kochi in Dec 2012
– students papers from the IEEE Standards Education Committee grants
were presented.
Standards Publications
In 2012, IEEE-SA published its highest amount of
pages - ever, just under 20,000.
– A primary driver of these numbers (volume and speed) is
the increasing amount of 802 documents published (22
total) and the expedited work associated with them and
Smart Grid (SG) documents.
Average time to publication continued to decrease
to 8 weeks.
Pre-University Education
EPICS (Engineering Projects In Community Service)
– Currently 40 projects, operating in 14 Countries:
 Argentina, Belgium, India, Kenya, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, South
Africa, Tunisia, Uganda, United States, Uruguay, Zambia, Zimbabwe
 More than 100 volunteers involved, working with:
 266 University Students and 471 pre-university students
 Impacts 90,000 people in communities around the world
TISP (Teacher In-Service Program)
– 4 TISP training workshops slated for 2013

Reach an estimated 250-300 IEEE volunteers

Goal is to reach 600 teachers representing 64,000 students
