communication skills (oral & written) are essential. Experience supporting individuals with

provide training. It is also helpful/preferred to have an understanding/knowledge of how to

The Home Support Worker provides individual support, problem solving, companionship,

out in the community. Some homemaking and some help with personal hygiene). Specific
types of support are based on the individual’s needs, interests, and desires. You may also

Duties: The responsibilities include supporting a woman with multiple disabilities, who
uses a wheelchair to be able to remain in her own home and is legally blind. The ideal
candidate provides individual support, problem solving, companionship, guidance, and
assistance in everyday living including going on walks in the community to enjoy sunshine
and fresh air. You will also enjoy dogs and will be required to take her dog out for walks, as
needed. You must be able to use a lift to transfer the person from her van, wheelchair
and/or bed. You will provide assistance with all personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, and
hair care. You will also assist with homework (Spanish/Sociology), housework chores,
standing, driving her to school, and assisting her around campus. She will need assistance
with dressing and undressing for her swim class.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate is caring, patient, and able to work independently
and respectfully in someone’s home. All training will be provided. Experience with
individuals with disabilities is a plus, but is not required. A good driving record, valid driver’s
