Thank you!) 1st Field Experience Activity/Time PSC/ISTE Standard(s) 10/15/2013 -Worked with ELL using Google Translate to discover what his background knowledge of cells were. Explained to him that all living things are made up of cells. Practiced sorting and saying plants and animals. Explained to teachers how to use Google Translate in the classroom and how to use it as a means of communication and assessment with our lower proficiency student. 2 hours 10/16/2013 -Watched a video in Spanish on BrainPop.com about cells. Introduced him to simple cell vocabulary with the words in English and definitions in Spanish. 1 hour ISTE 1. Visionary Leadership b. contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of technologyinfused strategic plans at the district and school levels. 10/17/2013 -Practiced with vocabulary cards. Showed him a plastic model of a plant cell and pointed to the different vocabulary words (parts of the cell). 1 hour 10/21/2013 Watched a video with Spanish subtitles on KhanAcademy.com that explained the differences in a plant cell and an animal cell. Practiced vocabulary cards and pointed to the different parts of a plant cell using a model. 1 hour Date(s) 10/14/2013 -Practiced with vocabulary cards. Took a quiz that listed the words in English and definitions in Spanish. Viewed and animal cell model. Typed into Google Translate the differences between a plant and ISTE 2. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and leadership from completing this field experience? I learned that technology can greatly increase the access of a student to academic content. The student I worked with was of extremely low English proficiency and we were unable to communicate due to the language barrier. Using technology we were not only able to communicate, but I was able to present lessons to him that were delivered in Spanish. 2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? I was able to do that with both my student and fellow teachers. I created lesson plans that had a strategic plan to infuse technology into education. X X X 9-12 3. As far as student learning, the student was assessed and scored well on both assessments. Teachers also learned how to use Google Translate.
