Many nations have laws or actions which would be considered an abuse to
Human Rights and Justice (think of China). But one of the clearest examples of
Human Rights abuses are genocides, the deliberate killing of an ethnic group.
1915- Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire (Turkey) leaves 1 million
Christians dead
1940s- Holocaust- Germany’s final solution to the “Jewish
problem”
1970s- Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge empty the cities to restart at year Zero
1990s- Rwandan Hutu and Tutsi attack each other. Nearly 800,000 confirmed
dead in a few short months
-Sudan Muslims attack Christians. Thousands of Christian boys flee the
nation
-Bosnia and Serbia- Slavs, Croats and Christians attack each other.
Israel and Palestine
The country of Israel was created by the Balfour Declaration by the British. In
order to create the nation, the British had to take land from the Arab nation of
Palestine. This act angered the Arabs but pleased the Jews. Today, Conflict
continues in Israel as the Arabs try to regain their lost land, and the Jews try to
maintain their land gains.
