Extra Credit 3
Extra Credit for Test 3
Total possible points: 5
To receive full credit, make a 3-ring binder containing all listed materials. Use it
during the test and turn it when you have finished your test (be sure to write your
name somewhere!). Furthermore, you must arrive to the test on time.
Be sure to make it so it easy for you to use and quick to find topics (the tags help a
lot with looking up things quickly). You can add other material if you like, just be
sure it’s in a good format.
Don’t throw this away when you’ve get it back, it will also help when you take the
final exam.
All material in the links are from my website: http://euler.math.uab.edu/~mpogwizd/
Goal: Create a well-made reference guide for test 3. It will be a 3-ring binder which includes:
1. The study guide
2. The lecture slides
3. A formula sheet
4. A key-concepts sheet
5. Practice exam for reference
1. Study Guide:
(attached with email)
Print, hole-punch, and put in the 3-ring binder
2. Lecture Slides: (Note: Each section is only 2-3 pages)

Print, hole-punch, and put them in the 3-ring binder
Add tags on the top or sides to mark the different sections
(this will make looking up things easier and faster)
Use the margins to write important notes on some the slides
(You don’t have to do this for every slide, just the important ones)

3. Key-concepts sheet:
Refer to page 1 of the study guide. Write brief answers to each key concept (1-9)
4. Formula sheet:
● Write a general step-by-step guide for performing a hypothesis test.
(You can use the one I showed in class or refer to the study guide)
● Write the requirements, variables, and formulas for:
A Hypothesis test about Two Proportions
A Hypothesis test about Two Means (independent)
A Hypothesis test about Two Means (matched pairs)
A Hypothesis test about Two Variances (i.e. two standard deviations)
Hole-punch and put them in the 3-ring binder
Add tags on the top or sides to mark the different parts
● Write the requirements, variables, and formulas for:
A Confidence Interval for the difference of Two Proportions
A Confidence Interval for the difference of Two Means (independent)
A Confidence Interval for the difference of Two Means (matched pairs)
Hole-punch and put them in the 3-ring binder
Add tags on the top or sides to mark the different parts
5. Complete the following two practice exams:
http://euler.math.uab.edu/~mpogwizd/Teaching/ma180-418-spring-12/PracticeTests/Test3_PracticeTestA.pdf
http://euler.math.uab.edu/~mpogwizd/Teaching/ma180-418-spring-12/PracticeTests/Test3_PracticeTestB.pdf
Use the answer key to check solutions.
Be sure to list each step clearly so as to use for reference.
Hole-punch and put them in the 3-ring binder
Add a tag on the top or side to mark its spot.
