WHO WE ARE
The St. Aloysius Education Clinic is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing
educational and other programs to children with the conviction that education and opportunity
are extrinsically linked. We are an organization of St. Aloysius Church; however, we do not
have a religious component.
Founded in 1979, the Clinic has since expanded from a small community based organization into
a thriving education clinic which serves children from ages 3-21. Every year The Clinic
evaluates its program and responds to the needs of the community, and expands its enrollment
and programs to accommodate the needs of the community.
Affectionately known as "The Clinic" The St. Aloysius Education Clinic can be summed up in
one simple word, "Opportunity." We offer opportunities for
 Academic improvement and enrichment
 Cultural and recreational activities to stimulate the imagination &
broaden horizons
 Summer work and experience
 Preparation & support for entrance to competitive elementary & high
schools as well as college
 An interest in reading to be stimulated
 mentoring and family support
The opportunities, which we have extended to our students, have aided in our alumni attending
and graduating from such fine institutions as Yale, Harvard, Cornell, Williams, Amherst,
Wesleyan, University of Pennsylvania and a host of other colleges and universities.

HISTORY
PS 92’s RIF was started in 1971 as the first
funded RIF program in New York City. This
RIF site started out serving 1000 kids in one
site. “The Clinic” now serves over 2000 kids
in seven sites each year. Over the course of
30 plus years The Clinic has never missed
one distribution. We have served over 2
million children in Central Harlem.
Through RIF we are able to supplies books
to children throughout the year to continue
developing their interest in reading and
opening their minds to the pleasure,
knowledge and inspiration that books offer.

If children read,
they can educate themselves.
If children read,
they have choices in life.
If children read,
they can travel beyond the confines
of their environment to the world.
If children read,
they are free.
