Marking of assessments: •Using GCSE mark schemes and GCSE marking styles •Usually 50 marks •A* 80%, A 70%, B 60%, C 50%, D 40% Student Self Reflection: •After each assessment, students will complete a self reflection task and will spend timing revisiting the paper to see where they need to improve their understanding. To be signed by parents Self reflection and Peer assessment: •In class, students self and peer assess their work •Done using the purple pen of progress •Easy to check understanding and progress •Parents can check this in exercise books •To be completed in a different colour pen if possible (not black, blue or purple) •Mostly exam questions and command word exercises •Some research tasks, ongoing revision or complimentary tasks •Parents can check all homework in exercise books •Aim for every week homework •As a department, when your child is working well and making good progress we will always try to send postcards or letters home to keep you informed. •Termly grade sheets will always show the grade that your child is currently working at. •If your child is underperforming in end of topic exams or there is a general cause for concern with attitude towards learning letters will be sent home and parents invited into school In Year 10 your child has 4 hours of Geography in school per fortnight. This increases to 5 hours per fortnight in Year 11.
