Early Colonies Study Guide (Wednesday, 9/24) This quiz will focus on the early English Colonies in the Americas and the resulting culture clashes. Vocabulary Identifications: The Identifications section will consist of 10 vocabulary questions. Some of these will be fill in the blanks where the definition is provided, and some will provide the vocabulary word and you will be responsible for writing the definition. Study the vocabulary words from the chapter 3.1 and 3.2 homework sheets for the identification section of the quiz. Making Flash Cards can be very helpful for this section of the quiz. Short Answer Questions The rest of the quiz consists of four short answer questions (3-5 sentences long). Make sure you are familiar with and understand the following topics: The differences between the cultures present in Colonial America (Native Americans, Europeans, Africans) The reasons Roanoke failed as a colony. The failures and successes of the Jamestown Colony. The founding of the Plymouth Colony by the Pilgrims. The beliefs of Puritans and Separatists, and how these beliefs influenced the early New England Colonies. (We will focus on this topic in class on Monday and Tuesday).
