Ode to joy • Ode to joy was first written by a German poet in 1785 called Friedrich Schiller • It is best known for being set to music by a famous composer called Ludwig van Beethoven. (Symphony no.9) • Ode to joy is also the melody for a popular hymn ‘Joyful, joyful we adore thee’.
