Océ Brings Advantages of Production Black & White
Printing to GlobalSoft Digital Solutions
Océ VarioPrint digital printing solution features workflow software
that integrates printing platforms
TRUMBULL, CONN. December 00, 2011 – Océ, a Canon Group company and
international leader in digital document management, today announced that
GlobalSoft Digital Solutions recently installed the Océ VarioPrint® 6160 Ultra
production printer with Océ PRISMAprepare™ software to substantially improve
the cost model of their black and white printing spanning variable data campaigns,
collateral, manuals and books.
"Océ offered the best solution for high-end, black and white production printing,"
said GlobalSoft President and CEO, Chris Petro. “It meets our production needs
for fast turnaround, print quality and finishing and it makes great financial sense.”
One Device for All Monochrome Production Printing
"This new Océ solution allows us to move black and white printing back to a
production system," said Petro. He credits their ability to run all monochrome
production printing jobs on one device to the production speed of the Océ
VarioPrint 6160 Ultra duplex printing and inline finishing features and Océ
PRISMA® workflow software.
For their direct-to-patient communication programs, GlobalSoft uses the Océ
solution to automate the complex supply chain requirements in this highly
regulated market and reliably deliver variable data campaigns to 300,000 clients.
In another scenario, the modular capabilities of the solution allow them to adapt
for extra capacity in peak retail seasons.
“Many customers, like GlobalSoft, still produce a large volume of their work in
black & white and Océ is committed to providing them with the most productive
devices on the market,” said Francis McMahon, Vice President of Marketing, Océ
North America Production Printing Systems. “Time is money in a production
environment and tremendous opportunity exists for service providers with reliable,
high-speed black and white digital printing solutions.”
Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra systems print both sides of a sheet of paper
simultaneously. As a result, duplex jobs print faster and more reliably. The line-up
of high volume duplex printers also comes in four speed bands, from 166 to 306
letter images per minute.
Flawless Book Production and New Opportunities
GlobalSoft sited Océ’s true production printing capabilities, reputable service
record, and workflow as key factors in their purchase decision. "I was extremely
impressed with it and has already opened doors into the book publishing market,”
said Petro. “The open architecture of Océ PRISMAprepare software allowed us to
integrate it seamlessly into our existing workflow and now our book assembly is
flawless and intuitive.”
Reliance on workflow tools is vital at GlobalSoft because their operation spans
several floors. Petro stated that they utilize Océ‘s PRISMAprepare software as
their make-ready solution because it works well with their other workflow tools, his
operators like the simple interface and its remote-look feature allows them to cater
to international clients through their European facility.
With their new, more extensive black and white printing and finishing capabilities,
they also see opportunity in offering their web storefront customers new
applications like versioned manuals.
Partnering with Océ Gets the Job Done
"The install process was absolutely amazing from the comprehensive pre-install
planning and thoroughly pre-planned workflow to the install team and education
process," said Petro.
During the install process, GlobalSoft needed to deliver a critical holiday season
print job to a new retail client. They worked with the Océ team to print 90,000
versioned, duplex pages with tabs, printed and stapled on the new end-to-
end Océ solution: from pre-press using Océ PRISMAprepare software to printing
and in-line finishing on the Océ VarioPrint 6160 Ultra system.
Petro commented, "The Océ team partnered with GlobalSoft to get the job done.
That's the type of partnership we need and one that will help our business
expand."
