Bellringer:
1. Which of the following structures are directly involved with
cellular motility?
a. Cytoplasm and chloroplast
b. Chloroplast and mitochondria
c. Cilia and flagella
d. Ribosomes and rough ER
2. Which best describes the structure of a cell membrane?
a. Proteins embedded in a bilayer of phospholipids
b. A bilayer of protein coating a layer of phospholipids
c. Phospholipids between two layers of protein
d. Cholesterol embedded in a bilayer of phospholipids
DLT’s:
1. I can assess my knowledge of cell structure and transport
through my selection of five Unit 3 test review tasks, in order
to better prepare myself for the unit exam.
2. I can summarize cell membrane structure, types of cell
transport, and how the cell membrane maintains
homeostasis after analyzing questions about these topics, in
order to assess my learning of these concepts with the
second DLT quiz.
3. I can explain how the cell membrane controls movement of
substances both into and out of the cell and within the cell
after completing the “Osmosis and Diffusion in an Egg” lab,
and be able to justify my reasoning.
Today:
1. Whole class homework review
2. Starting test review: Cell Structure unit test is on Thursday!
a. Review stations:
i. Organelles word match
ii. Cell Structure and Function Graphic Organizer
iii. Label a picture of a Plant Cell and an Animal Cell
iv. Label the Cell Membrane
v. Using your classwork and notes, create five flashcards with review questions for this unit (Cell
organelles, cell membrane, transport) – hold on to
these we will be using them later
vi. Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic word sort
vii. Cells Alive website (student Computer) – Click on the
interactive animal, plant, and bacteria cell models.
You will review cell structure by clicking through
each type of cell and check your knowledge of these
cells and their organelles. *This will be helpful if you
are unsure of organelles and their functions.
viii. Online Diffusion Quiz:

ml
3. Unit DLT quiz 2
4. Homework: Write the introduction section of your lab report.
a. Due Thursday
Use your biology textbook (chapter 7) to correctly label the
parts of an animal cell and plant cell.
