RAS 200A – A SIP conferencing application
server
Polycom RAS 200A is a SIP conferencing application server / B2BUA that
creates video sessions between video clients (VSX and PVX VOA) and
MGC
Acts on Alcatel Instant Video Application Server requests for video session
creation, hold, un-hold, tear down
Report back to Alcatel Instant Video Application Server video user status
Selects MGC to host conference
Video clients (PVX VOA, VSX) register with RAS 200A (auto discover), get
SIP server address, send status change reports
Imposes license policy to control number of concurrent video end points
usage

RAS 200A – Functionality, interfaces, protocols
and API
Alcatel Instant Video Application Server to Polycom RAS 200A
interface is a proprietary Polycom-Alcatel API based on Web
Services (XML over HTTP)
Video endpoints to RAS 200A registration and end point reporting
is a Polycom protocol running over HTTP
All video sessions established by RAS 200A (to video endpoints
and MGC) use SIP with RAS 200A acting as a B2BUA
Video endpoints register and authenticate with SIP server
All SIP calls between RAS 200A and video endpoints go through
Alcatel SIP server.
RAS 200A and MGC hold direct SIP calls, and not through the
server.
