Culture and Events • Once each quarter you will present a current event or cultural practice to the class. Presentations will be given on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. You must e-mail your presentation to me the day before you present (Monday or Wednesday) emily.betzler@scsd2.com Using the resources below or any other legitimate source, create a presentation using power point or movie maker to inform the class on a current event or cultural practice from a country in the Spanish speaking world. Your presentation must meet the following guide lines: • Between 3-5 minutes (unless approved by teacher) • Include at least 3 images of the country where the event/cultural practice is taking place • Include a map of the country • Detailed explanation of your topic – – – – – • What is going on and where? Why? Who is involved? Why is it important? How does it effect us/the world? Students will be required to research current events and cultural practices of the Spanish speaking world. Students will present their findings to the class once a month. ¿México más verde? New city ordinances outlaw businesses in Mexico City from giving away plastic bags that are not biodegradable. Es importante? SI! Muy importante • According to the United Nations Environment Program plastic bags are the second-mostcommon form of litter. • They are also the greatest form of litter in the oceans. • The bags are also a major threat to ocean wildlife.
