Want more information about student attendance?
Students and parents can pick up a detailed attendance report from the attendance office. This report lists
the dates of each absence and the coding (ill, medical, truant). Please remember to call our attendance office
(905) 887-2216 (ext. 190) if your son/daughter is absent.
There is a positive relationship between regular attendance and success in school. Students at P.E. Trudeau
H.S. are required to attend regularly, to be punctual, and to participate in all scheduled classes.
All absences from school must be authorized. Authorization must consist of a note or phone call from a
parent. During school hours, students are expected to be in class and are not allowed to leave without the
teacher’s permission. An automated phone system will inform parents of a student’s absence.
Unauthorized absences will be recorded as truancies. Lates and truancies may result in counselling, contact
with parent/guardian, detentions, suspensions, and potential removal from the course.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
«First_Name» «Last_Name» has completed and submitted to the Guidance Office «Community_Servi» hours of
community involvement. Students must complete 40 hours of community involvement in order to graduate.
NOTES TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Our students are very involved in the community and complete thousands of
Community Involvement hours each year. As such there will often be a delay between the time that they
submit their Community Hours to the Guidance office and the time these hours appear on weekly attendance
updates. We appreciate your patience with this. The official record of Community Hours is available on the
Midterm and Semester End Report Card
TRUDEAUMANIA: A HUGE SUCCESS! Congratulations to our grade 9 students and their leaders for working
together, competing and having an amazing time at Trudeaumania on Thursday! The weather held out and
out students and staff enjoyed a very spirited day at Camp Green Acres. Congratulations to team LIGHT
BLUE who won the competition. We also had several students who enjoyed a day of cooperative learning
activities back at school. Thanks to SAC who organized an amazing program and to the teachers who helped
organize, attend camp as well as helping out back at school.
UNIVERSITY / COLLEGE EVENING: Thanks you to all those who came out to University/College information
evening. York University and Seneca College shared information with students and their parents on college
and university life and representatives from a number of universities and colleges including University of
Toronto, OUIT, Centennial College, Ryerson University, George Brown College, Humber College and Seneca
College helped students with individual questions and inquiries. We appreciate the Guidance department for
organizing such a worthwhile and informative event.
SCHOOL COUNCIL: Thank you to the many new and returning families who attended our School Council tea
and meeting. We had over 40 parents and guardians attend the meeting. Thanks also to the students from
the Octagon Club for hosting our tea. The next meeting is on Wednesday October 17 th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in
the library where we will be holding elections for the 2012-2013 School Council. All are welcome to attend.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF GRADUATING STUDENTS: Trudeau has a moodle specifically for
graduating students (which is open to everyone) called “Moodle for Graduating PETHS Students.” It includes
dates of college and university visits, scholarship information, important deadlines as well as links to other
resources. Please ask your son or daughter for the login and enrolment key or spend time together with them
reviewing it. If you have difficulty accessing the moodle please contact the Guidance Department.
