What is Economics?
• Economists aim to explain choices that are made
by firms, governments, individuals
• Example: Expansion of EU in May 2004
– How can firms benefit from EU expansion? New export
markets, easier access to cheap labor, etc.
– What is the impact of EU expansion on individuals?

– What policies should the government or central bank in
