SAP PLM - An Overview
PLM is a powerful but less known tool to assist the R&D Community to keep up with today's demand of
Smart, Efficient and Sustainable Innovation. This solution comprise of several tools tightly integrated to
each other and rest of SAP. Residing on top of the powerful HANA platform make this tool faster and many

community has never experienced. Presentation Cover - Overview of the PLM Solution ( PPM, RD, EHS,
GRC, GRD, DMS, PSS etc) - Benefits of using PLM - Certain powerful Functionalities Available
Manoj Kaippilly, SAP Labs
SAP PLM for Discrete Businesses
To properly understand what SAP PLM has to offer we need to first understand what all is contained
within the solution. SAP's definition of PLM is much broader and deeper then that of the CAD based
competitors. SAP PLM truly supports the entire lifecycle of a product from Ideas to Discontinuance where
the competition focused on Engineering with some reach into logistics. To really understand what the
capabilities are you need to understand the bigger picture. This is the first of a series of SAP PLM
presentations provided by ASUG to help customers understand what the own and what areas SAP PLM
can support. This presentation is focused on the Discrete Industries.
Peter Demtschenko, LeverX
Sustainable Product Innovation with SAP PLM
How are today's process-manufacturing companies transforming product development with SAP PLM?

SAP PLM manages the overall lifecycle of a product from concept through realization and eventual
retirement. This panel discussion gives the audience the opportunity to "ask the experts" about all aspects
of PLM. Our Moderator, Manoj Kaippilly and our SAP Partner speakers from LeverX and Linx/AS are
experts on PLM and PLM implementation projects for both the discrete and process industries. They will
have their own tips, tricks and cautions to share and will help to answer your questions in an informal,
give-and-take session.
Moderator - Manoj Kaippilly (SAP),
Panelists: Peter Demtschenko (LeverX) Nico Bonthuys (Linx/AS)
Track 3: Mobility
How to Get Started with Mobile Business Intelligence
If you are thinking about implementing mobile business intelligence (BI) solutions in your organization,
you are not alone. Mobile BI is more prevalent and more relevant today because it provides unparalleled
convenience, speed, and ease of use. However, the way in which the organizations should go about
realizing the benefits of mobile BI may depend on the state of their enterprise mobility and the level of
their BI maturity. This presentation will highlight key considerations and assumptions on how to get
started with Mobile BI. Real-life use cases will highlight how the SAP GCO Reporting & Analytics team has
integrated mobile business intelligence into its global customer operations.

Track 4: SAP Financials Influence
Integration of Financial Planning with Balance Sheet Planning and Liquidity Planning
Companies typically record plan data in a top-down and/or bottom-up cycle. Plan data captured on cost
center level are combined with those captured on order level and project level. At the end, they need to
be reconciled and aligned with plan data from the Income Statement (P&L).
We assume, that users would welcome a functionality that
reduces the effort of double data recording
using rule based logic, creates corresponding plan data in and other planning areas such as Balance
Sheet / Income Statement and or Liquidity Management.
It is our goal to get a better understanding of the pain points in this area and to find out the potentially
expected benefits and the expected minimum functional scope.
Steffen Follmert, SAP SE
Currency Risk Simulator
Abstract:
The system support for controllers (and treasurers) to estimate the impact of foreign currency exchange
rate changes must be improved. Typical requirements from controllers of global companies are :
get a better understanding of their business structure in relation to foreign currencies
analyze historic data with the goal to predict future foreign currency transactions
quickly run through “what-if” scenarios regarding foreign currencies
estimate the impact of foreign currency exchange rate changes on selected Income Statement
positions.
We have started to design a solution to address these pain points. It is our goal to present this design to
business users for feedback and to collect functional requirements.
Steffen Follmert, SAP SE
Incoming Payments
With S/4HANA SAP would like to improve and optimize the creation and processing of Incoming Payments
according to the best practices in the United States. On the one hand this contains the improvement and
automation of processes and on the other hand the optimization of the related user interfaces. We would
like to discuss the relevant business processes and collect your valuable feedback on our
planned/implemented solutions. The topics in detail are:
- Manual Posting of Incoming Payments (including Clearing)
- Bank Connectivity for automatic Lockbox Integration
- Manual Reprocessing of Incoming Payments
- Bank Statement/Reconciliation
Martin von der Emde, SAP SE
Universal Journal: The Single Source of Truth
With Simple Finance on-premise edition 1503 we released the new HANA optimized Universal Journal .
The Universal Journal eliminates the reconciliation pain and delivers already in the first shipment
outstanding customer benefits. We describe the new architecture and some of the fundamental new
capabilities. There is a lot of additional potential that can be leveraged in the next development waves,
e.g. in the space of enhanced multi-currency and multi-GAAP functionality. We would like to discuss with
our customers the status quo, the roadmap and ask for their feedback and input.
