Information Management & Privacy Strategist Consider this fantastic opportunity with the Central Agencies I&IT Cluster. This Cluster is looking for an individual who can create and maintain an environment in which the legislation and policies governing Information Management (IM), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and Record Information Management (RIM) are translated into guidelines, processes, frameworks and advice. What can I expect to do in this role? In this role, you will: define IM life cycle from creation to disposal through the development of a cluster/client ministry IM strategy review and analyze legislation and government policies around the management of information collaborate with business and information architecture colleagues in ensuring IM principles are tightly integrated into architecture strategy, planning and development practices develop quantitative and qualitative performance measurement criteria participate in and help define the scope of Threat Risk Assessment (TRA) and privacy/access assessment projects relative to the IM and privacy functions research trends and directions in IM policy and standards Note: The successful candidate can choose to work from either the Oshawa or Toronto office location. Knowledge: you have knowledge of the IM lifecycle from creation, acquisition or collection to eventual disposal and covering data/information storage and retention, access and use, protection, archiving, classifying, licensing, sharing, aggregating and recording you have knowledge of the tools, techniques, methodologies and software that are used to manage information throughout its lifecycle you have the ability to understand and apply knowledge of the legislation and corporate policies supporting and qualifying IM such as Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Recorded Information Management and the Archives and Record Keeping Act Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis Skills: you can review requests for information you can analyze output from TRA and quality assurance reviews you can develop performance measurement criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the IM initiatives along with the compliance of relevant legislation and policies Communication, Negotiation and Partnership Building Skills: you can develop local policy, frameworks and training materials in support of the IM function you can respond to requests for Freedom of Information service or information you can build relationships with business partners and bring mediation and resolution to issues that are sensitive in nature Research Skills: you can obtain knowledge of trends and directions in IM policy you can understand how the IM function and practice can be enhanced to allow for the development of a knowledge management strategy that will enable knowledge to be captured, protected and maintained Project Management Knowledge: you have knowledge of the methodologies and disciplines to lead and participate in projects you have knowledge of project estimating, tracking, reporting and delivery within projected targets Note: As a result of the recently agreed to AMAPCEO collective agreement, a new job evaluation system will be implemented on October 1, 2013. In the new job evaluation system, the classification level of this position is Level 6 with a salary range of $69,680.00 – $99,600.00.
