We plan to learn basic theories on how to design organizational structure considering several variables including environment, strategy, technology, size and other elements. We will also examine the practical cases related to these issues. These efforts will lead us to understand where we are now as a Corporate Korea and where we need to go for the purpose of transforming our corporations to be a globally competitive ones. Special focus will be given on organizational learning from a knowledge management perspective. □ Course Objectives 1. Understanding basic theories on designing an organization 2. Applying the theories to analyze Korean business situation 3. Bench-marking the best practices by analyzing the business cases 4. Developing a capability to consult regional companies □ Textbook & other teaching materials - Understanding the theory and design of organizations (10th Ed.) by Richard Daft - Harvard Cases & Stanford Cases □ Teaching method 1. Class will be taught in English 2. CPA teaching method will be employed for learning : Case-based learning, Problem-based Learning, & Action-Reflection Learning. 3. Class discussion will be highly emphasized with the provision of each chapter questions in advance. Cold call system will be employed to facilitate students participation 4. Team project will be assigned for the presentation and writing up the report □ Evaluation 1. Tests (Mid-term & Final-term): 40% 2. Class participation: 20% 3. Case analysis and team presentation: 20 % 4. Team Project : Case development : 20% □ Other remarks 1. Active participation for the class discussion will be highly emphasized. 2. Since collaboration with incoming foreign exchange students will be working for team projects, team spirit and team building skills are highly required for personal development. □ Candidates for case development 1.
