Description of the key task and responsibilities performed during the internship; including analysis, evaluation and application of business, accounting and auditing concepts. I often hear from persons who were employees of different institutions that everything will always commence from the bottom. And as an OJT-trainee I experience the same. During my internship at Land Bank of the Philippines North Cotabato Lending Center (LBP-NCOLC) started March 31, 2014 I was tasked to file documents, do the photocopying of it, print documents then file them, and other duties assigned to us by the Department Manager Assistant like answering phone calls, do phone calls, faxing of documents, logging of incoming/outgoing documents, filling up Disbursement Orders and follow-up or ask information from the department personnel. I find these tasks as essentials in every business, because the applications of these jobs will really help a lot for a company or entity in doing its functions and in attaining their corporate goals. We were also given the task to make the entity’s clients to feel comfortable whenever they were inside the office by giving them a seat and something to drink. I am also tasked to put stamp on filed client’s documents whose accounts are already fully paid. I am then asked to fill important information on release papers of the Sikat-Saka program of LBP-LC and to sort documents of the same kind and then file them. 2. Evaluation of the training and overall learning environment provided by the employer including the most valuable learning/s During the first few days of my training at LBP-LC I find the tasks given to me, those mentioned above, are totally not related to what the accountancy program prepared me for in the future. But as my training continues I then realized that the real essence of being an intern is that we are given the privilege to observe the processes/procedures or the environment, as a whole, of the establishment which is helpful for me as a trainee to widen my learning in my chosen course. As far as I have observed/heard in the conversations inside the entity, some of these reminds me of some discussions inside the classroom which made me realized that those lessons taught to us are learning we can use in the future, especially in subjects which relates in accounting, business analysis which they frequently use to determine whether they would grant a loan to their clients like profitability analysis, liquidity and risk analysis, the imposing of interest in the principal amount lend and a little about auditing, since, I was only able to read the audit report on the entity’s management and on their clients and personnel and of course I was able to apply my learning on dealing with different individuals which is taught to us in our management subjects. 3. Evaluation of the internship experience on how it has impacted their career goals; including human relations aspect, leadership and management skills and social challenges The internship experience had taught me plenty of lessons, as I mentioned earlier, which has impacted my career goals especially in dealing with different persons with distinct personalities and which I think is one of the most challenging parts during my OJT. Aside from the fact that at first I am timid to blend with our “Sirs “and “Maams”, I really had a hard time to socialize with one of the employees because she always treat me and my fellow interns like we cannot do anything right, but then thanks to her I was able to learn how to adjust if I’ll be meeting people with a personality like hers. 4. Evaluation on how the Accountancy Program have prepared the students -how the formal education and work experience interrelate Unfortunately for me I was not able to maximize what the accountancy program prepared me for the future since I was not able to practice the steps in making accounting reports and others but I learned the best lesson that the formal education and my work experience had mutually taught me, that is on how to deal with other people and other work ethics/practices. And again as I observe formal education and work experience interrelates since the company is using terms/processes/procedures that the formal education introduced to me. 5. Reflections, insights, realizations My On-the-Job-Training at LBP-LC, It made me realized that life in a corporate world is real fast. You need a discipline in doing all your responsibilities as part of the company because every day is a competition and as an employee you contribute a lot or it is in your hands where company’s functions lies. I also realized that in dealing with persons with different personalities is truly difficult but if you only know how to adjust yourself and try to be casual it will surely work for the situation because you really cannot please everyone. 6. Total number of actual hours worked during the internship -including work schedule The total number of hours worked is 250 at Land Bank of the PhilippinesLending Center from March 31, 2014, Monday to Friday excluding holidays at 8:00 am- 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. 7. Recommendations for the improvement of the internship program. I recommend that the documents/papers necessary to present in applying for OJT should be available to students whenever they needed it so that they can apply to office which they would be best for them because some schools have already applied in the same entity and NDKC students who will apply for OJT is then forced to give up their first chosen office and to find for another. I- A brief description/history of the training agency/ establishment LAND BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES History The Land Bank of the Philippines is a government financial institution that strikes a balance in fulfilling its social mandate of promoting countryside development while remaining financially viable. This dual function makes LANDBANK unique. The profits derived from its commercial banking operations are used to finance the Bank’s developmental initiatives and program. Over the years, LANDBANK has successfully man managed this tough balancing act as evidenced by the continued expansion of its loan portfolio in favor of its priority sectors: the farmers, fisher folk, small and medium enterprises and microenterprises, livelihood loans and agribusiness, agri-infrastructure and other agri-and environment-related projects, socialized housing, schools and hospitals. Today, LANDBANK is by far the largest formal credit institution in the rural areas. Its credit delivery system is able to penetrate a substantial percentage of the country’s total number of municipalities. LANDBANK also ranks among the top five commercial banks in the country in terms of deposits, assets, loans and capital. From its initial role as the financing arm of the agrarian reform, LANDBANK has evolved into a full service commercial bank, But the essence of its existence has not changed at all-and that is to make the countryside continuously throb with life.
