Directions: Choose five (5) of this week’s vocabulary words. It makes sense that in order to
learn these words that you choose the five that you think are the most difficult for you. For each
word, write a different kind of context clues sentence (i.e. synonym clues, antonym clues,
example clues, cause and effect clues, and mood clues.)
#1 Antonym Clues: Use words like HOWEVER, BUT, or ALTHOUGH to hint at the
meaning of an unfamiliar vocabulary word.

words that show the OPPOSITE meaning of the vocabulary word.

word.

around the trees of the mountainside.

an example that will to hint at the meaning of an unfamiliar vocabulary word.
